Canaiolo is an old vine variety of Etruscan origins used in Chianti for ages. Historically it can be found in the grapes variety that Baron Ricasoli adopted to produce Chianti Classico, alongwith Trebbiano and Malvasia and with other red vines like Colorino, aiming at softening Sangiovese’s coarse character. Canaiolo is a fine and elegant wine, with a light red ruby colour, perfumed with a peerless drinkability.
